Philanthropist and reformer (1802–1887), she secured reforms in treatment of the insane. Uncommon ALS signed “D. L. Dix,” one page, 4 x 6.5, February 23, 1859. Short letter of thanks for a gift. In part: “Thanks dear…for yr precious little book, and be sure I prize it both for its intrinsic excellence and as a token of yr…affection.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, and scattered toning.
